We welcome paddlers of any ability at RLSCC.
We have Beginners Nights for adults over the age of eighteen on the first Tuesday of the month throughout the summer. There is a list of dates for this year below. If you want to try paddling or have only paddled a little this is the ideal place to start. Responsibility doesn't come naturally to canoeists but we will find some BCU qualified coaches to introduce you safely to some basic paddle skills and infect you with the joy of being on a river.
If you take to the sport (and who wouldn't?) we can offer you a basic skills course on Tuesday nights over the following two months. Complete this and, together with a BCU certificate, you will know whether you want to continue in this wonderful sport.
If you decide to continue you will be able to make informed choices about the aspects of this sport you would like to continue with and we will do our best to help you towards your new paddling goals.
A beginners session will cost £5. You will need to bring clothes you can get wet in and a change of clothes for afterwards. We will supply boats, paddles, helmets and buoyancy aids. We have changing rooms and showers on site. We always go to the Cricketers for a recovery drink after a paddling session so please join us afterwards and meet some of the regular paddlers.
These sessions are proving very popular. There are only so many boats and coaches to go round so we need you to book in advance. If you scroll down to the date you wish to join us you will find a link you can use to book a place. .
