Event Description

The forecast is for rain. Whether it's enough rain is doubtful, but regardless: let's go find some water!

I will be looking for some nice grade 3: exciting but not too scary, preferably somewhere we haven't been before. I'm prepared to travel up to about 3 hours to get somewhere worth going, which just about puts the Dart in range. If there's not enough rain, there's always the Tryweryn.

This will be a peer trip. My personal goals will be to focus on leadership skills and river reading, but you should not be relying on me! Ideally I'd like to share 'leadership' with others so we can learn from each other.

We'll leave it until Saturday/Sunday to pick a destination based on water levels.

Sounds like the Upper Wye might be on, yet, so lets make that plan A and the Elwy can be plan B. We can check the gauges in the morning. Drive time is about the same for both. I don't like super early starts and we've got the light, so lets call it 7:30am at the club. See you there!

It seems that North East Wales has benefitted from the most rain over the last few days. I'm currently inclined to do the Afon Elwy: http://www.ukriversguidebook.co.uk/rivers/wales/north/afon-elwy

It's variously graded at 3 or 2/3, so hopefully well within the 'fun but not scary' range. It has a bunch of weirs on it, some of which are occasionally nasty, so there will probably still be a decent amount of bank inspection. It's a long paddle at about 14km, so bring lunch! Drive time is a bit over 2.5 hours from the club.

Does this seem ok? Let me know either here or on FB if you have a better idea.
