Event Description

A weekend of sea, surf and sand and hopefully sun.  The campsite is right next to the beach with hot showers, cafe and camp shop.  It is a beautiful location.  Can't guarantee how much surf there will be but it is normally a surfing hot spot and well if there isn't any surf, you can always build sand castles!

Travel down Friday night, surf as much or as little as you like on Saturday and Sunday.  Have a BBQ Saturday night with a beer or two.

Campsite is a bit on the expensive side £15.00 to £22.50 per person per night depending on numbers in tent but it is very clean and an ideal location.

UPDATE

Just a quick up date to confirm a few things.  If you are not making your own way there, meet us at the club on Friday at 2.30pm prompt. I believe this will be Rene, Jonny, Dave, Tania and me. If anyone else wants to come, please shout now.

I think Emma & Gareth will probably be the first to arrive so can be in charge of finding the best spot on the camp-site.

PUB - Kings Head is approx 10 mins walk from camp-site. The menu looks like it has a good selection and reasonably priced.

There is a cafe at the camp-site (Eddy's cafe) it is open at the weekends but shuts in the evenings around 5pm ish.

Pete's (PJs) surf shop is next to the Kings Head pub and you can hire boards for £10 a day.

WEATHER FORECAST - Sadly no heat wave.  The BBC say "some rain over the weekend but generally light with drier & brighter spells inbetween rather breezy but becoming somewhat warmer.  Sat max temp 16  and Sun 18.

Club equipment - If anyone needs to borrow any and did not mention it on Tuesday night, speak now. 2 poss 3 club canoes have been booked out and approved by a committee member.

I am trying to decide whether to buy any charcoal?  Does anyone have a bag or do we prefer pub option?

Think I have covered most things but please shout if you have any questions.

Hi Emma

Yes you can borrow equipment.  Gareth said you might need to borrow some items. Are you able to transport a canoe?  The club blue daggers are available, will that be ok?  I don't think you will have access to the kit room so I will bring helmet, buoyancy, paddle etc for you.

See you there

Hi Janet, please can I borrow equipment (boat, helmet, paddle, buoyancy aid etc...). Don't know which canoes you've got booked out or if there is a choice, but if there is a small one then that would be good! I've been trying out different canoes at my new club and still haven't found one that doesn't swamp me.

There is also a nice pub at Llanmadoc that i'd recommend. Was in Gower a month ago and found that both pubs got booked up in the evenings, however that was in the school holidays. May be worth bringing charcoal just in case though.
